Combined Defence Services (CDS) Exams are gateways to tri-services of the Indian Armed Forces. Though both the exams are conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. The CDS Exam is conducted twice a year by the Commission to select qualified officers for Army, Navy and Air Force. All CDS cadets under training have authorized a stipend of Rs 56,000/- pm. From which cash allowance of Rs 6,000/- pm is permissible for monthly expenses during the training. Pay Scale of Army Officers and equivalent ranks in Air Force and Navy.

3.      Flying Pay : Officers Posted as Army Aviators: Rs.14000/-pm

4.      Parachute Pay : Officers Posted in Active Parachute BNs/Regt: Rs 9000/-pm

5.      Special Forces Allowance : Officers posted in Special Forces : Rs 1200 /-pm

6.      Transport Allowance : Officers Posted in Peace Stations : Rs 9000/- pm

7.      +DA in A1/A cities : Rs3200/- pm and +DA at other places : Rs 1600/- pm

8.      House Rent Allowance: To officers not provided Govt. Accommodation 10-30% of Basic Pay (Pay Band + Grade Pay + MSP.)

9.      Kit Maintenance Allowance : All officers: Rs 400/- pm

10.  Uniform Allowance : (Outfit Allowance)All officers Initial: Rs 14000/- and 3000/- every Three Years.

11.  Qualification Pay/ Grant for Service Courses : All officers undergoing specified courses: Rs 6000 to 20000/- pm

12.  Instructional Allowance: All Officers Posted as Instructors: 1800/- pm
